Cheek Implants

From a plastic surgeons point of view, it looks as if the actress has opted for cheek implants to change the overall shape of her face. It also gives her jawline more prominence. Although there is also the possibility that bad diet may have contributed to this. Everyone knows that Mary-Kate Olsen also suffered from an eating disorder in the past. Her new altered look may also be from losing a lot of weight. However she has neither confirmed or denied her plastic surgery rumors although it is obvious. The actress also does not appear to feel the need to justify her actions to anyone.

Cheek augmentation helps sunken cheeks and facial hollows. Implant surgery involves facial contours and restores lost volume. A variety of facial implants for enhancement of cheeks are available. A wide variety of cheek implants are available not only in shape and style, but also materials. Materials include Alloderm and Gore-tex. Plastic surgeons on the whole prefer to use injectable fillers, structural fat grafting or fat transfer all of which enhance cheeks and facial features.

Lip Augmentation

It has been reported that Mary-Kate has had lip fillers to make her top lip look bigger. Her hollowed out features make her look sick and older than she is, but then again she has always adopted a darker style. For both surgical and non-surgical procedures, the fullness of the lips are increased. Dermal fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm are used, or in more complex cases, lip implants or fat grafts. Restylane is an approved transparent hyaluronic acid gel which is used to smooth facial lines, plump up lips, and reduce any acne scarring. It is also used to fill under eye hollows, enhance cheek volume and reduce wrinkles on the hands. Lips can also be made fuller with saline or silicone. Fat transfer or fat grafting involves harvesting fat cells from other body parts and injecting them into the treatment site. This increases volume in areas such as cheeks, lips, breasts and buttocks. It can also help reduce the appearance of pitted acne scars. Long lasting results although not permanent.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is a very popular procedure. Plastic surgeons can perform this procedure by placing a saline or silicone gel felled implant under the breast, around the nipple, through the armpit, or through the belly button as in the case of Mary-Kate Olsen. Implant is placed under the breast tissue or beneath the chest wall muscle. After surgery, breasts will appear fuller with an increase in volume and size, and more shape. Incision scars eventually fade but are permanent and can thicken in a small percentage of people.
